Gold & Velvet | My New Dining Area

Posted on

I bought new chairs that inspired me to turn the den in my tiny condo into a dining space. Before I had a desk area that hasn’t had any use since I finished school. After a DIY table, my new chairs, and a quick trip to Ikea my dining space is complete. I cannot wait to invite my girlfriends over for some wine and cheese to officially break in this new space. I have had a few questions where I bought my pieces so I have linked everything down below.

The chairs

Mercer 41 Carrigan Upholstered Dining Chair

These are a dupe for a set of chairs from West Elm. I took a risk with the blue colour velvet and it paid off because I love them. It also gives the space some colour. Unfortunately, the chairs have sold out since I’ve purchased them but Wayfair will be restocking in a month.

The table

Rub n’ Buff Grecian Gold

This is an old table that I painted gold to match the chairs. I had my eye on a marble West Elm table but its back ordered until the end of summer so I came up with this DIY. I recommend the Rub n’ Buff paint in Grecian Gold for a faux brass look. A little goes a long way with this paint. Two tubes covered the entire base of the table. I used sponge brushes as an applicator. I’m really impressed with the way this turned out. Eventually, I would like to change the table top to marble.

The Bench

  EKTORP ottomans x 2

I put two of these ottomans together to create a bench. I kept it simple and added some oversized cushions from Homesense as a backrest. I would recommend a 60 x 60 or bigger. You can find these in the bedding section of Homesense.
