Trying Kourtney Kardashians Avocado Pudding

I wouldn’t say I’m a die-hard KUWTK fan but I’ve seen enough episodes to see several cameos of their famous avocado pudding. Kim and Kourtney rave about how good this concoction tastes and swear by several of its health benefits. I became curious if a liquid version of avocado would really taste as good as it’s made out to be. After doing some research I found out that the Kardashians did not invent avocado pudding. The same pudding that Kourtney says she eats for breakfast every morning is actually a traditional Sri Lankan dessert. Regardless, I don’t think Kourtney’s going to be giving credit to the Sri Lankan people’s any time soon for this treat.

The health benefits that go along with the pudding are largely due to the nutrients in the avocado. Most already know that avocados are a full of healthy fats, a source of fiber, and the fruit with the highest level of vitamin E. As of now there aren’t any genetically modified avocado crops in existence so you don’t have to worry about GMO’s with this fruit. Avocado skin is thick enough that it protects the inner part of the fruit from pesticides so you’re not losing out by not buying organic. Another important note is that avocados help with reduces stomach inflammation so that more nutrients can be absorbed in the digestion process.

 

One serving calls for:

1 cup of Organic Coconut Milk

1 Whole Avocado

2 Tsp of Manuka Honey

For the most pleasant texture blend until smooth. Refrigerate for 30 minutes before serving, or up to 48 hours. Severed with a silver spoon as preferred by Kim & Kourt.

 

 

 

 

(The Manuka honey can be substituted for regular organic honey, for the obvious reason that very few people are going to want to pay $50 for a jar of honey. Although Manuka honey is an investment, it does have quite a few health benefits and has a dramatically different taste.)

Survey says Kourt K’s pudding is really a hit or miss. Personally, it was hard to taste a traditionally savory fruit in such a sweet form. My boyfriend believes otherwise and has told me I am now obligated to make this for him every morning. Sigh. It is a very simple recipe though so I guess I can’t complain.

 

 

For those of you who don’t like this recipe or the taste of avocado, I have made an alternative recipe that masks the color and taste. I have to also mention that it taste similar to chocolate soft serve ice cream. I dub this the “Jenner” version for being the newer, improved, more deceiving version of its original sister recipe. *cough cough* Kylie. Actually, I take that back I’m not going to pass up the opportunity to name something after myself.

 

Shannon’s Avocado Pudding:

1 Cup of Organic Coconut Milk (cold)

1 Whole Avocado

1 Frozen Organic Banana

1 Tsp of Organic Cocoa Powder

1 Tbsp of Organic Honey or Agave

Blend until smooth and you can eat immediately.
